How to Use Chopsticks to Eat Chinese
Food
Hold one chopstick in the
crook of your thumb, resting on the inside
tip of your ring finger.
Place the second chopstick
in a similar position, then press it between
the index and middle fingers with the ball of
your thumb.
Bend the index and the
middle fingers and slide the upper stick
down to meet the lower stick to pick up food.
Like our jaw, only the upper stick moves while
the lower remains stationary.
The tips of both the
chopsticks should be at the same level, but
to achieve this result, the ends must not be
tapped on the table or the plate in order to
bring them together.
Chopsticks must not be
sucked as they are considered an extention
of the fingers and in any case it is unmannerly
to suck the fingers.
