ATTEMPTED SUICIDE
Those
working at the casualty centre of any large
hospital see a considerable number of people who
have attempted suicide (para-suicide). Many of
these attempts are genuine calls for help, not
death seeking efforts; others are deliberately
aggressive acts in which rescue is expected.
Unfortunately, some die because the
expected prevention does not happen.
Para-suicidal attempts often result in a degree
of relief, and frequently lead the individual
into seeking or getting
help.
