PHENOTHIAZINES
These are widely used in
states of agitation, tension and aggression, ad
are perhaps more properly called psycho
- correctives. They have a varied range of
qualities, and some types have been developed
that require an injection every two to three
weeks.
As with many such preparations,
these can cause drowsiness, dizziness,
constipatioin, headache, lowered blood pressure
(hypotension) and Parkinsonism. Rarely,
they produce a reaction in which the tongue
protrudes, the eyes roll, the face is distorted.
This is alarming to the unfamiliar but is
quickly corrected by anti - Parkinsonian
agents.
