He joined as faculty at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the apex academic institute and published widely. Subsequently he practiced at Batra Hospital, later joined at the Escorts Heart Institute, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, Medanta The Medicity Hospital, Gurgaon, Haryana.
Dr Balbir Singh did pioneering work in Radiofrequency ablation and is well recognized for his skills in ablating Atrial Fibrillation as well. His work on some highly complex coronary angioplasties and cardiac care of the sick won him accolades.
Dr Balbir Singh has been awarded some prestigious national and international awards. He was honored with the Padma Shree by the President of India in 2007.
Dr Balbir Singh is the President of the Indian Heart Rhythm Society and has served as secretary of Cardiology Society of India. He has been invited as faculty to several international meetings.
He has been on the Advisory Scientific Panel of Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society and has organized several workshops with International faculty in the field of Cardiology and contributed several papers in national and international journals. Presently on the steering committee of 3 large multicentre international trials.
